KART RACER ON PC / RELEASED
The 2020 Nickelodeon kart racer from Bamtang Games, with 30 playable racers, a pit crew chosen from 70 more characters, split-screen for up to four players and online races for up to eight.
Grand Prix is the earlier of the two Nickelodeon kart racers in this catalog: it came to PC in December 2020, and Slime Speedway followed in 2022. Its 100 characters come from shows such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Rugrats, Hey Arnold! and The Loud House and are split into 30 playable racers and 70 crew members, so you pick a driver and then a pit crew whose powers favour attack, defence or fun. Races let you win cups and more than 80 kart upgrades, and arena challenges sit alongside them.
Its multiplayer is clearly documented, which is not true of every licensed racer here. Steam lists split-screen for up to four players and online races for up to eight, and says a controller is required for local multiplayer modes. If you need a confirmed four-player limit, that makes it a safer choice than Slime Speedway or DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing, whose Steam pages do not state one. We have not measured how busy online lobbies are today, and the game has no developer announcements on Steam.
Check the controls before you buy. Steam lists only partial controller support and recommends a gamepad, although Valve rates the game Verified for Steam Deck. The minimum PC specification asks for 64-bit Windows 10, 8 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570.
Price is its other argument. When we checked, its Steam list price was well below Slime Speedway's and it was also on sale, although discounts change. Steam user reviews were Mostly Positive. Choose it over the sequel if price and documented player counts matter more to you than the newer game's roster of more than 40 racers.
Based on the documented features of the PC version, not a hands-on review or score.
Grand Prix leans on a large Nickelodeon cast and a pit crew system. Wildlap is an original kart racer in development, with its own worlds such as Tropical Island and Chaos Factory and a garage where race earnings improve your kart.
We make Wildlap. It is a PC kart racer in development, without a release date or public demo yet.
