Our verdict
Slime Speedway has the largest cast among the licensed racers in this catalog. The Steam page promises more than 40 Nickelodeon characters, drawn from SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender and other shows, and 36 tracks, both new and returning, with slime-filled alternate paths. An arena mode adds head-to-head battles alongside the races.
Both local split-screen and online multiplayer are listed for PC. The Steam page does not state the local player limit, so we have left that fact unconfirmed instead of borrowing a number from the console versions.
Two details deserve attention before you buy. Steam lists only partial controller support, so check how you will get through the menus with a gamepad. At the time of checking, the base game's list price was also higher than that of the other family kart racers in this catalog, with a Turbo Pack sold separately; Steam prices change often, so compare the current offer.
Valve rates it Playable on Steam Deck. If the characters matter more than the price, it is a natural choice for a Nickelodeon household. Otherwise, compare it with DreamWorks All-Star Kart Racing from the same developer, which Valve rates Verified.
Based on the documented features of the PC version, not a hands-on review or score.
Good for
- Nickelodeon fans who want a big roster
- Families who want both local and online play
