Compare every kart racer
All 26 kart racers by price model, local players, split-screen, online play, Steam Deck rating and status
For this catalog, a kart racer is an arcade racing game built around small vehicles, compact tracks and items or abilities that can swing a race in a single corner. Licensed character racers, indie projects and open-source games all qualify, as long as there is a Windows version you can get today.
Two groups are left out on purpose. Karting simulators such as KartKraft and Kart Racing Pro model real racing karts, which makes them a different kind of game. Arcade racers without karts, such as Hot Wheels Unleashed, are left out too. Console-only series, including Mario Kart, are covered in the questions at the end of this page.
How to read the cards and the table
Local players is the maximum number of people who can race on one PC, as stated for the PC version. Split-screen and online play are listed separately, because sharing a screen and joining an online lobby are different setups. The price model tells you whether a game is free, free-to-play with in-game purchases, or paid; each game page adds notes such as Early Access or content sold separately. Steam Deck shows Valve's compatibility rating at the time of checking. When we could not confirm a fact from an official source, the page says Not confirmed instead of guessing.
How we check the data
Every fact comes from the game's Steam page, the developer's or publisher's website, its manual or its support pages, and each game page lists its sources and the date we checked them. We repeat the check every quarter, because prices, Early Access status and online services change. Verdicts are our own summaries of documented features, not hands-on reviews or scores, and no store description is copied.
We make Wildlap, a kart racer that is still in development, so it appears in a separate box below instead of in the list. Spotted a mistake? Email [email protected].
Our guides
The catalog lists every game. The guides pick the best options for a particular way of playing.
No. Nintendo has not released Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Mario Kart World for Windows; it lists them for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The games in this catalog are Windows releases with related ideas, such as character racers, items and unusual tracks. Our guide to games like Mario Kart for PC compares six of them.
Is Crash Team Racing on PC? +
Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled came out in 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. When we checked on October 16, 2026, we found no Steam listing for it, so it is not in this catalog. If you like its style, The Karters 2: Turbo Charged is a PC kart racer whose developer describes it as inspired by Crash Team Racing.
Why are KartKraft and Kart Racing Pro missing? +
Both are karting simulators that recreate real racing karts and how they handle. This catalog covers arcade kart racers with items and abilities, so simulators are outside its scope.
What is the difference between free and free-to-play? +
A free game costs nothing to download and play; SuperTuxKart, for example, has no microtransactions. A free-to-play game is free to download but sells characters, items or progression inside the game, as Disney Speedstorm does. The free list shows both, labelled separately.
How often is the list updated? +
We re-check every game at least once a quarter: price model, Early Access status, online services and Steam Deck rating. New games are added once their facts are verified and the verdict is written, and each game page shows its own research date.
