Our verdict
Bears Can't Drift!? is a compact indie kart racer with a sense of humour. You race as a bear through tracks among the pines, collecting weapons and power-ups to knock rivals off the course, and its battle mode has players dashing between picnic baskets and stealing each other's food.
Multiplayer is local. Up to four players can race in split-screen, with up to eight computer opponents on track, and the player holding the flag chooses the bear, difficulty, track and mode for everyone. A quick-restart button helps when you are chasing a better time. No online mode is listed.
The developer describes it as retro karting with a modern look, and it is a smaller production than the licensed racers here, so treat it as an extra for couch sessions rather than the main kart racer in your library. Steam lists full controller support, and the requirements mention a wired or wireless Xbox controller. Valve has not rated it for Steam Deck.
If you like its retro feel, Super Indie Karts lists 48 tracks, and Kart Attack is a free option for the same kind of local session.
Based on the documented features of the PC version, not a hands-on review or score.
Good for
