Our verdict

Renzo Racer is a small, inexpensive kart racer from EnsenaSoft, a studio based in Mazatlán, Mexico. You pick one of 16 cartoon drivers and race on 20 tracks, either one at a time or in Grand Prix tournaments against computer opponents. Some races swap the kart for a boat, and the courses are scattered with ramps, destructible objects and hazards such as rocks, fallen trees, black ice and oil slicks. The store page also mentions missiles, so expect weapons as well as driving.

Its unusual extra is VR. Through SteamVR, the PC version supports HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Windows Mixed Reality headsets, played with a gamepad or keyboard, which is rare among the games in this catalog.

Local play needs a closer look. Steam describes a local mode for two players, added when the game left Early Access in August 2019, while the developer's website lists four local players on every platform except Switch. We could not confirm which applies to the current PC version, so plan on two. No online multiplayer is listed.

The listed minimum is modest: Windows 7, 4 GB of RAM and a graphics card with 512 MB of memory. Steam lists full controller support, and Valve has not rated it for Steam Deck. The last developer update on Steam, in March 2020, fixed bugs and improved performance on many tracks, and Steam user reviews were Mixed when we checked.

Treat it as a low-cost extra for solo races or a VR headset rather than the main kart racer for a group. For four players on one PC, Bears Can't Drift!? and Super Indie Karts both confirm four-player split-screen.

Based on the documented features of the PC version, not a hands-on review or score.
