Our verdict
Transformed is built around one idea: your vehicle changes between a car, a boat and a plane as the course moves from road to water to air. Each lap becomes a sequence of different handling styles rather than one rhythm repeated three times, and that is the main reason to choose it over the other SEGA racers in this catalog.
For solo players the draw is World Tour, a career that opens up further chapters and events as you progress, according to the official PC manual. Grand Prix, Time Attack, battle arenas and single races sit alongside it, and the store page lists 25 tracks and arenas, with an All-Star Move for each character.
Locally, up to four players can race in split-screen, and the PC manual documents taking a split-screen group into online play; the store page mentions online events for up to 10 players. We have not measured how busy online lobbies are today, so treat online play as a supported feature rather than a promise of full lobbies.
This is an older release. The listed minimum requirements are modest but date from the Windows XP to Windows 8 era, so they are not a guarantee for every current laptop, and the manual asks for an internet connection during installation. Valve rates it Verified for Steam Deck.
Based on the documented features of the PC version, not a hands-on review or score.
Good for
- Solo players who want a career mode
- Players who like switching between land, water and air
- Four-player races on one PC or a Steam Deck
How Wildlap compares
Transformed changes your vehicle in the middle of a race. Wildlap keeps you in a kart and changes the track instead, with shortcuts, machinery and magnetic lanes that take the race onto the ceiling.
We make Wildlap. It is a PC kart racer in development, without a release date or public demo yet.
